Aberdeen-Angus

High-quality tender meat, fine-fibered, with good marbling

This breed is best known for its high-quality beef. The hornless breed is resistant to diseases and has only moderate demand in terms of feeding and housing conditions. The breed’s most prominent feature is its good reproductive ability, excellent maternal characteristics and quiet temperament. The breed is ideal for cross-combinations.  Milk productivity of cows is low, about 1,500-1,700 kg during standard lactation.

History of the Aberdeen-Angus

The Aberdeen Angus originated in northeastern Scotland, in the Aberdeenshire and Angus regions. In the nineteenth century, people began optimizing the breed for meat production. By the mid-twentieth century, it was recognized as one of the best meats available and spread throughout the world. It is primarily bred in the U.S., Britain, South America, Australia and a few other countries.
