History of the Brown Swiss

The Brown Swiss breed originated thousands of years ago on the territory of modern Switzerland, a territory covered with rocks and mountains, and suffering from extreme weather conditions. Historically developed from the Braunvieh beef breed, which had good milk characteristics as well, over the years breeders selected the best animals for their milk production and by doing this, developed the Brown Swiss dairy cattle as we know it nowadays.
